About Our Founder
Dr. Evette L. Bridges is the founder and motivation of We Are GIRLS, Inc. Evette is the sixth child of nine siblings. Growing up, she was always very active in sports, goal-driven, and determined to be an inspiration and help to others. Evette had big dreams of becoming a news anchor (broadcasting) and aspirations of a model. Frances Weller from WECT TV 6 and Tyra Banks were her role models.
After graduating from East Bladen High School in May 1995, Evette entered Saint Augustine’s College, now Saint Augustine’s University in the fall of 1995. Still a determined and motivated young lady, she set out to become Miss Saint Augustine’s College, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., be on the Dean’s list, and captain of the cheerleading squad, also known as the Bluechips. By the end of her junior year, she had successfully accomplished all of her goals.
After receiving her BA degree in Communications in 1999, she continued and graduated with her Masters in Business Administration from Strayer University in 2006. Throughout her time while obtaining her degrees, Evette worked in the college academia in the departments of student advising, counseling, and admissions. It was there, assisting and motivating students, where We Are GIRLS, Inc. was created.
We Are GIRLS, Inc. seeks to support young girls of all ethnicities between the ages of 11-21, achieve goals and transition into successful ladies through motivation, empowerment, and encouragement.
